e-learning Launch: 'Sporting Voyage' takes a new route...

Plans for online content in response to Covid-19 & Schools Closures

Due to the current circumstances, the delivery of our Sporting Voyage programme has had to take a pause. However, we are excited to announce the launch our e-learning platform for the Sporting Voyage programme. You can engage in the programme from the comfort of your own home.

Mayflower 400 commemorates the historic voyage of the Pilgrims on board the Mayflower ship. Combining religious studies, history and sporting activity this programme explores the journey of the Pilgrims who searched for religious freedom which led them to the New World in 1620. Use your time at home to engage and learn more about the history of your city and discover a New World through Sporting Voyage.

The e-learning platform can be found on our M400Sport website. Here you will find, Session 1 and 2 videos, a downloadable or online booklet and Home Challenges.

Take part in our Sporting Voyage lessons online and enter the competition for your chance to win prizes. Complete the Sporting Voyage booklet while watching Session 1 & 2 videos and complete the Home Challenges. To enter the competition email completed booklets and Home Challenges to mayflower400@pafc.co.uk, everyone who takes part will receive an e-certificate.

'Sporting Voyage' UPDATE:

It has been 5-months since the launch of our Sporting Voyage educational programme. We have delivered the programme to over 2,859 pupils across Plymouth, who have either taken part in the 6-week programme, the day offer or a whole school assembly.

A unique and engaging education programme, which combines sport, history and religion. We have thoroughly enjoyed delivering this programme as part of the Mayflower 400 commemorations in 2020.

See some of the feedback we have received from schools across Plymouth:

The published materials were excellent and included homework tasks to further the children's enjoyment and understanding. A good variety of sports were included in the practical sessions.

Boringdon Primary School

The Mayflower Voyage is an integral part of Plymouth's history. The workshops linked perfectly with our geography curriculum whilst adding impact to engineering of Plymouth, past and present. The children were engaged and thoroughly enjoyed the PE lessons.

Holy Cross Primary School

The children learnt some important historical information using resources they could relate to. This was then linked to American sports which they very much enjoyed!
